1. Short title, extent and commencement:
(1) This Act may be called the Madhya Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Adhiniyam, 1965.
(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Madhya Pradesh.
(3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification, appoint.

2. Definitions:
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, -
(a) "Board" means the Board of Secondary Education, Madhya Pradesh established under section 3;
(b) "Chairman" means the Chairman of the Board;
(c) "Director" means the Director of Public Instruction, Madhya Pradesh;
(d) "Head of the Institution" means the Head Master, Principal or by whatever other name the Head of an Educational Institution is called;
(e) "Institution" means a school or an educational institution recognized by the Board;
(f) "Member" means a member of the Board;
(g) "Prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act;
(h) "Regulation" means a regulation made under this Act;
(i) "Secondary Education" means such education as may be prescribed;
(j) "Secretary" means the Secretary of the Board.
